IMPORTANT: New Time Reporting Deadlines
It’s really important that you be aware of the new time reporting deadlines.   Here are the new rules:
1.       YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TIME IN BY 10:00 ON FRIDAY OF NON-PAY WEEK UNLESS YOU ARE A WEEKEND WORKER (12:00 MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY FOR WEEKEND WORKERS).
2.       SUPERVISORS MUST APPROVE TIME BY 5:00 PM ON FRIDAY

Here is the email that came out this last week from The Financial Services Organization, Human Resources Division, Systems Control, and University Information Technology Services :

Subject: New Time Reporting Deadlines
To ensure that everyone gets paid accurately and on time, new payroll timelines have been established. By implementing these new timelines and reducing the number of exceptions processed, we can help departments ensure their employees are paid without delay.
INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES (Time Reporters) and SUPERVISORS (Time Approvers)
Effective 5/31/2010, employees (time reporters) must report their time by 10:00 a.m. on the Friday of a non-pay week. Supervisors (time approvers) must approve time by 5:00 p.m. on that same day.
Some departments have weekend workers, in these cases, employees (time reporters) must record their time by 11:59 p.m. Sunday evening and time approvers (supervisors) must approve time by 10:00 a.m. the following Monday morning.
Time reported or approved after these deadlines will be paid during the next pay period.
INFORMATION FOR TIME COORDINATORS
Under the new timelines, coordinators will need to ensure that all time has been approved and all exception hours have been submitted by 10:00 a.m. Monday morning. The deadline, to ensure all time has been approved and exceptions have been cleaned up, will be 11:45 a.m. Time entries and/or approvals made after 12:00 p.m. on pay week Mondays will be processed in the next payroll cycle. This will result in the employee being paid for those hours on the following pay date. Please ensure that your time coordinators and backup time approvers are available to assist employees whose time approvers may have failed to approve their time.

What’s the yellow tape in the Computer Center lobby?
If you've come in the east doors of the Computer Center in the past few days, you've seen the taped-off rectangle on the wall. That marks the future home of a pair of monitors that will display UITS metrics and marketing graphics, and a Computer Center welcome message with some wayfinding.

Infrastructure Services has a team working on evaluating the hardware and interface of Cisco's digital signage product. They are using signage for the Computer Center and 24/7 lobbies as a pilot, which will give us the added benefit of an attractive welcome for visitors.

Facilities Management is working on the behind-the-scenes part of the CC installation first, in the Data Center break room. In a few weeks, look for the final break through the wall and the monitors in place!

Space Team to be led by Derek
Derek Masseth will be the Executive Sponsor for the Space Team.   Derek will be working with the team after he returns from vacation next week.   We decided to make this change because Derek has some new exciting ideas about space usage and some team-building areas.   Additionally, Derek has the biggest staff in UITS and the most diverse use of space, so it seemed a good fit for him to be the Executive Sponsor.
