Apple released an update which appears to resolve the issues with mobile Apple iOS devices and UAConnect. We recommmend upgrading each of your Apple iOS devices to iOS version 6.1.2
February 18, 2013 - Issue with iOS 6.1/6.1.1 Devices on UAConnect (iPhone/iPad Users)
An issue has been discovered by Microsoft and Apple, regarding Exchange mailboxes that sync from an iOS 6.1-based device, such as an iPhone or iPad. Apple is aware of the issue and is working to develop a fix. The issue is documented by Microsoft
If you use or manage an iOS device, such as an iPhone or iPad, with a UAConnect mailbox:
- if the device has NOT yet been upgraded to iOS 6.1 or 6.1.1, please do NOT upgrade the device until a fix has been announced
- if the device has already been upgraded to iOS 6.1 or 6.1.1, please do NOT process any UAConnect Calendar items from the device until a fix has been announced. This includes creating, modifying, accepting, and declining any UAConnect Calendar items.
Processing UAConnect Calendar items from an iOS 6.1-based device causes the device to attempt to update calendar items thousands of times per day, which consumes server resources and will significantly reduce the battery life of the device and could increase data usage if the device is used with a wireless data carrier, such as AT&T or Verizon.
Users whose device is exhibiting the issue will be contacted directly by the 24/7 IT Support Center. Because Apple is still working on a fix, the current workaround solution is to remove the UAConnect account from the iPhone and/or iPad, then simply re-add it. After the account is re-added, it is important that UAConnect Calendar items are NOT processed from the device until a fix has been announced.
If you have any questions, please contact the 24/7 IT Support Center at (520) 626-TECH (8324).
