Unencrypted vs. Encrypted Traffic

Overview
 
In order to be compatible with as many WiFi devices as possible UITS has not enabled encryption on the UAPublic network. The open nature of WiFi allows people to monitor the airwaves and gather the communication packets that people are sending from their machines to the access points. Therefore if you are on UAPublic it is highly suggested that you do not go to any sites that are not https protected and we highly suggest the use of other encryption methods such as VPN or SSH when connecting to other services on the Internet.
