Virtual Computing Machine

UITS provides a complete system platform that supports the execution of a complete operating system (OS).  This platform is one of many separate and disticnt platforms that share the same physical computing machine.

Benefits:

  • Customers lease virtual computing machines so there is an annual cost as opposed to a periodic refresh cost.  The annual cost, over three years, is usually less than the refresh cost for equivalent hardware.
  • System disks for virtual machines are on high-speed fiber-channel disk storage.
  • UITS operates several physical machines that host virtual computing environments and can move the virtual machines onto available physical machines to balance load or to perform maintenance on physical machines.
  • UITS provides server administration as a separate option.
  • Customers may administer virtual machines provisioned by UITS.
  • System drives of virtual machines are backed up daily by UITS.
  • There is no asset to track and surplus.
  • Less consumption of power and HVAC.
