My Piece of the Puzzle: Assistant Director for Research Computing. My focus is to facilitate campus research by matching research needs with the people, hardware and software resources of UITS Research Computing. Research Computing has consultants in the primary areas of High Performance Computing (HPC); Visualization and Graphics; and Statistics as well as leading edge HPC and visualization resources available for use by all campus researchers, instructors and students. Please contact any member of Research Computing to describe your latest challenge and we will work with you to find possible answers to your research computing needs. For a complete description of UITS Research Computing resources see Background and Education: My background is in Chemistry (B.S. Case Western Reserve; M.S. Purdue University; Ph.D. University of Southern California). I have worked at UA since 1985 as a Staff Scientist (Chemistry, crystallography), department IT lead (Chemistry) and currently in central IT administration (CCIT --- UITS). The common thread throughout my career has been a focus on solving puzzles and thinking in terms of complex, interrelated systems, paying attention to the details at the micro level and to the systems at the macro level.
