DUO Universal Prompt and VPN Changes

Feb. 2, 2024

On Friday, Feb. 16, the University will implement a streamlined NetID+ two-factor authentication experience, Duo Universal Prompt, to simplify the verification process, increase security and provide a more user-friendly interface.

The Duo two-factor authentication prompt will appear slightly different on desktop browsers than the current version. A visual preview of these changes is available in this knowledge article.

Also, Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections will automatically begin using the University’s single sign-on authentication method and Duo Universal Prompt that all users are familiar with.  Specifically, the Duo Mobile Push option will no longer prompt users to enter the NetID+ Method in the Cisco Secure Connect app. The process for new VPN users todownloading and installing the VPN Cisco Secure Connect apphas also been simplified.
