Below are some of the questions you will be asked. Please gather all necessary information before you begin.

Short Essay Questions

There are several short essay questions, including some that depend on what job title you are applying for. Here is what they look like, so you can prepare. Each requires a short paragraph. You can view a list of job descriptions in a new browser window/tab.

All Applicants: Customer Service Experience: What does the term customer service mean to you? Please describe your best and worst customer service experiences.

Applicants expressing interest in leading workshops: Please describe your experience developing, writing, and/or teaching workshops.

Computer Lab Consultant and/or Research Computing Positions: After reviewing the job description(s), please describe in detail what makes you qualified for this position.

Multimedia Consultant (UITS - OSCR): Please describe your experience with a leading multimedia software application and include the types of projects you have used it for.

Operations Lead (UITS - OSCR): Provide an example of a time that you have failed or made a mistake. What did you do to remedy it?

Programmer (UITS - Communications): Describe an object oriented software program that you designed. What did it do? What tools and technology did you use?

Technical Consultant (UITS - 24/7 Support Center): Please describe in detail your experience with troubleshooting computers and assisting users with technology.Include specifics about operating systems, hardware, and software packages.

Technical Lead (UITS - OSCR): Please describe in detail your experience with troubleshooting computers and assisting users with technology.Include specifics about operating systems, hardware, and software packages.

Technical Writer (UITS) Candidate is to:

  • provide at least two (2) brief writing samples specifically geared for the web - URL links to a candidate’s website for samples is welcome
  • review UITS website at: uits.arizona.edu and submit at least one example of what they like and do not like about the website
  • prepare a brief statement and describe with at least five (5) bullet points what makes them qualified for this position

Webmaster (UITS - Communications): Describe your most recent web development project. What was it for? What was your role? What technology and tools did you use?
