Workgroup and Network Consulting (WNC) provides integrated workstation support services to campus departments through annual pay-for-service agreements or on a per-project basis. Examples of services we provide include computer specifications, configuration, and installation; Windows operating system support; application installation and troubleshooting; anti-virus and anti-spyware software installation, updates, monitoring, and removal; peripheral (smartphones, PDAs, printers, scanners) support and configuration; shared disk space on secure redundant servers; and reliable data backup.
- Knowledgeable, personalized support
Each department is assigned two WNC analysts who become familiar with your environment and your department’s unique requirements. You can be assured that your service requests will be responded to in a timely manner by our knowledgeable staff. Our analysts have over 100 years of combined computer support experience.
- Integrated desktop/server management
WNC analysts manage your desktop computers to ensure stable and secure computing. We provide centralized installation and automatic upgrades and patches for anti-virus software, anti-spyware software, operating systems, and application software.
- Data protection
We provide an infrastructure of servers which allow departments to store and share their data files. Data stored on the servers is backed up frequently and housed off-site in a secure location. Appropriate user rights are designated for each of your employees so they can access the appropriate network resources (i.e. drives, printers, etc.).
- Cost effective solution
For departments that need on-site personalized desktop support and secure file storage, WNC provides an economical solution. WNC will be happy to consult with you regarding your department’s specific requirements.
Coordination of support
WNC provides a single point of contact for computer assistance, working closely with other UITS departments and outside vendors to resolve technical problems.

We research future IT trends in order to stay current with technology so we can help departments make informed decisions. Working closely with representatives from your department, we provide recommendations for hardware and software purchases.
- Asset management
Using asset management software, we provide up-to-date equipment inventory and warranty tracking to our customers.
