We provide limited hardware support where possible upon diagnosis of the problem and if the issue is minor. If you have a problem with your computer, you can bring it in along with any cables that it needs to operate. The 24/7 IT Support Center will assist and instruct you with hardware upgrades and/or replacement of client-provided parts for your computer. This service is restricted to easily accessible parts such as memory and hard drives.
In the case that your computer needs more extensive upgrades, the staff can recommend local dealers who can assist you in performing these services. Please be aware that you will have to consult these dealers regarding the cost of such services.
For hardware replacement, you must purchase new hardware from an outside source. The 24/7 IT Support Center does not stock parts. You will be required to perform the actual replacement under the guidance of a 24/7 staff member. Please be aware that the University is not affiliated with any outside dealers of computer parts or services. All recommendations are made in good faith, and all costs incurred are solely your responsibility.
We urge you to back up your data frequently, especially before bringing your equipment in for service. In the event that your hard drive requires reloading or replacement, having regular backups of your files greatly reduces the potential for lost data and enables us to service your machine more quickly.
